Maejakgwa (Korean Ginger Cookies)

Method

  1. Cookies
  2. Sift the dry ingredients together; slowly add the water and knead by hand until you get a nice pliable dough. Let is rest for 20 minutes or until “soft”
  3. Roll your pastry to desired thinness - then make 3 equal incisions  and twist the bottom out.
  4. Deep fry at 180 deg C or until golden brown. Drain the excess oil.
  5. Drizzle syrup over cookies while sprinkling sesame seeds.
  6. Wait to cool and serve.

  8. Combine sugar and water in a saucepan on medium low heat and dissolve all the sugar while stirring.
  9. Let it rest for a few minutes before adding the cinnamon.
